Lakeside Capital Group, LLC (“Lakeside”) was formed on May 6, 1997 in the state of Washington. Lakeside was originally funded by John Hemmingson and he remains the primary source of capital for the firm. Lakeside has generated a 27.7% historical annualized return for investors and operates as an opportunistic, but long term focused fund. Today, the vast majority of Lakeside’s $140 million in asset value is in liquid investments ready to be deployed.
- Actively Managed Companies – These are investments where Lakeside and its partners own a majority of the company and actively manage its success. In these companies Lakeside is responsible for hiring the management team as well as having the partners intricately involved in areas such as finance, operations and sales. Lakeside views these types of investments as core competencies and expects the greatest return from them.
- Partnership Interests – These are investments where Lakeside owns a minority interest but one or more of the partners are also directly involved with the company and its success. In addition to having a board seat, Lakeside’s partners are either directly employed by the company or offer business analyst and consulting services.
- Passive Investments – These investments are typical limited partner investments in private companies. Lakeside performs extensive due diligence on the market, the business plan and the management team before committing capital to these investments.
- Real Estate - Lakeside’s investments in real estate are usually partnerships with reputable firms that have deep experience and local knowledge. The real estate portfolio is diversified into commercial office buildings, retail/lifestyle centers, and developable land.
- Public Holdings – Lakeside capital has a public holdings portfolio consisting of Fund of funds, hedge funds, and public securities.
